A woman could lie about birth control but then that begs the question why is he relying on her assertion? We keep telling women to be responsible, to dress modestly, not to lead a guy on or whatever. My contention is that this is a 50-50 proposition. We consign women to a life of subverting her goals to child rearing in ways men are never expected. If a man does not want to be a father, then he can also be told don’t have sex. Or use a condom each and every time. This will be even more essential as women increasingly lose access to birth control. Regardless government should have no say in this; but if these draconian measures are taken, I say we tie up the courts in anyway possible. The thrust of my article really is to highlight the inequities inherent in the view that women are the ones primarily responsible for the perpetuation of the human race and that laws will force them to subvert their own wills to this disturbed notion. Men and women should be allies in this endeavor, not pitted against one another
