I personally don't want to belong to any group that considers me second class to begin with, but any group that asserts moral authority over others and will not have questioned centuries old dogma is ripe for abuse. We need to encourage more rational discourse and critical thinking skills than Christianity-liberal or conservative-invites. I fully believe we can be compassionate and engaged meaningfully in our communities without religion. We can recognize social investment as a greater good that benefits us all without the belief in some eternal reward to spur us on.
