I understand that grief but for me it extends beyond any particular religious belief system. I'm grieving the apparent loss of humanity in far too many people. I am a long since lapsed Catholic who has found community simply through connecting with others. I have had the opportunity to attend churches in Ghana and Nicaragua and what I took away from those experiences was the kindness and humanity shown to me despite being a stranger. I was welcome and accepted. There's no greater validation of one's worth and humanity than that.
