I was a kid when I first read in the Old Testament of God telling Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. I thought Abraham was an idiot for putting his own ‘salvation’ ahead of his child. I saw cowardice. When dogma takes precedence over compassion and acceptance, you’ve gone down a frightening path.
