I’m a therapist who challenges my clients to connect with others because it’s the basis of emotional health. One client followed my advice, struck up a conversation with another woman seated on a bench overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and came away with a great conversation and a new friend. She was so excited to tell me. You would think my suggestion was radical. I agree Umair that our capacity and intentionality to connect meaningfully with others is seriously eroding in America. And there goes our collective mental health.
