I’ve often thought that placing a greater burden on women for youth and beauty was a means of preventing their ascent to being confident and self-possessed. When you consider how much head space it takes to obsess over calories and dress size and chasing after anti-aging measures, it’s horrific. We have to support one another living our best lives and making the world a more just and equitable place for everyone, not limit ourselves being consumed with some arbitrary societal expectation of our worth.
