True that’s why I know how to fight and can outrun most people, but that’s beside the point. I am not naive to state physical violence is a no-go. And I would defend my family with my life. But when we invest untold amounts of money into weapons and hollow out the state department, that is a problem. When we don’t see all countries as deserving of collaborative efforts to stabilize and simply strip them of resources such as clean water, we are increasing the odds violence will occur. The more diverse the leadership, gender, ethnicity, etc the less likely groupthink leads to violence. I would not be so arrogant to assert binary solutions, but we need to deconstruct our notions of power and dominance. Societal investment at the most basic level stabilizes, mainly education and access to clean water, and in general freedom from violence. Aspirational of course but that doesn’t mean we throw up our hands in defeat.
