When my women clients voice this common marital dynamic, I recommend stepping back from these gender-based expectations. Don't even say a thing. Just don't do it. Then their husbands have a choice to fill the vacuum with action or not. You take back the power when you assert yourself through inaction. P.S. the kids will survive it.
